The Hungarian Garden Heritage Foundation expands its international relations

Leaders of the Hungarian Garden Heritage Foundation  exchanged views with well-known British and French professionals. Topics of discussion included potential forms of collaboration as well as the domestic implementation of international experiences of garden heritage protection.

Between the 16th to 20th of May, Budapest hosted the 9th European Botanical Garden Congress (EuroGard IX), which is held every three years and is the main event of the European botanical garden professionals. The Hungarian Garden Heritage Foundation also introduced itself with a presentation during the congress. Experts from many countries visited Hungary. Representatives of the Institute of Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Garden Art, Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the Hungarian Garden Heritage Foundation, Albert Fekete and Ágnes Herczeg, met with James Gagliardi, head gardener of the Smithsonian Institute’s botanical gardens. They discussed the current matters of garden heritage. Daniel Boulens, retired head gardener of Lyon and board member of several professional organizations, also visited the Hungarian Garden Heritage Foundation. His name is associated with the ecological maintenance model of urban green spaces and the promotion of the French garden heritage, on which topics he has shared his experience and methodology with the members of the Foundation. In addition to the professional discussion, the French expert visited the biodiverse flowerbed of annuals at Szent György Square, designed by the Pagony Landscape Architect Studio. The tour was led by the head designer, and trustee of the MKA, Attila Vincze.
