Reflections on garden heritage

The HGHF is launching a video series entitled Reflections on Garden Heritage, in which Hungarian and international experts and representatives of the co-professions share their thoughts on the topic. The mini-interviews, which will be shown simultaneously on the website and on the Foundation’s Facebook page, will alternate weekly.

The garden is considered by encyclopaedias to be a green space that is tended with particular care, and by landscape architects to be the microcosm or essence of the landscape. In the Scriptures it is the repository of the goods necessary for wholeness and happiness, in world literature and in Hungarian poetry it is the forerunner of Paradise, the full and pure manifestation of universality. And for us Hungarians, it is an archaic heritage of our language, which already appears in the Tihany Charter of 1055. Whatever its meaning in different cultures, the wonder and mystery surrounding gardens captivates most people. The mission of the Hungarian Garden Heritage Foundation is to increase the appreciation of the artistic and natural values of historic and heritage gardens and to raise public support for their conservation. To this end, the HGHF is launching a series of interviews entitled “Reflections on Garden Heritage” with the participation of renowned Hungarian and foreign experts. The weekly reflections will be published on the Foundation’s website and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/magyarkertorokseg from 1 February.
